A morning news anchor has gone viral for seemingly taking a snooze during a live broadcast — and people are giving her grace for being a new mom.
In a video shared online, FOX13 Memphis anchor Dominique Dillon is seen in the studio with her eyes closed and head resting on her hands while on air with a reporter on location in another part of the city. The person who shared the video is heard laughing in the background.
“Y’all! DOMINIQUE DILLON got caught SLEEP ON CAMERA, FOX 13 Good Morning Memphis!! I’m hollering,” the person captioned the video, adding the hashtags #Nappingonthejob and #Erniesaiditmustbenaptime.
Dillon, who welcomed her second child in December, went on to poke fun at her brief snooze. Her colleague and FOX13’s Good Morning Memphis anchor Ernie Freeman shared a selfie of himself with Dillon, who was pretending to nap.
“Now that ‘The Big Show’ is over, it’s time for Dominique Dillon to catch another nap,” he wrote on his Facebook.
Dillon reposted the snap on her Facebook on July 29, adding, “Couldn’t even give me a nudge. Brittani Dubose FOX13 had my back though!”
People in the comments section shared heartfelt and candid reactions to Dillon’s quick nap, while others jokingly asked why no one woke her up.
“Those morning shifts are so challenging. Let’s give her some grace and support,” one person wrote on the Instagram video.
“Well we understand she has a little one at the house so her nights are different right now,” another commented on Dillon’s post, while another added, “I used to want to catch a nap at a stoplight when I was in baby mode. All mamas can relate.”
Dillon, who also has a 2-year-old daughter, returned to work in April.
“Excited to be back in the saddle after four months of maternity leave with this cutie, telling stories that matter to you and keeping you informed,” Dillon shared on her Facebook on her first day back.
Since then she’s continued to share her work on her Facebook page, as well as share brief life updates. The day after her snoozy moment on the air, she shared a photo of herself, along with an inspirational quote.
“‘Every morning, you have two choices: continue to sleep with your dreams or wake up and chase them,’ – Arnold Schwarzenegger. Wise words from my former Governor,” the California native wrote, adding, “Good morning!”
