Former Maryland State Del. Carolyn Howard died Saturday morning, her family confirmed to News4.
She was 87 years old.
Howard was a longtime representative in the Maryland House of Delegates, serving from 1988 to 2019.
She represented District 24, which includes Prince George’s County.
Howard was born in DeLand, Florida and eventually got her master of education at Bowie State University, according to her official Maryland House of Delegates page. Before serving in Annapolis, the Democrat was also a principal in the Prince George’s County school system.
From 2007 to 2019, she served as deputy speaker pro tem.
A cause of death has not been released.
