Seven Smithsonian museums along the National Mall in D.C. are closed Thursday because of a “mechanical issue,” authorities say.
The Smithsonian Institution website shows an announcement that says that the museums are closed. They did not immediately share details on the problem.
Here’s a list of the museums closed on Thursday, Aug. 6:
- National Museum of the American Indian
- Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden
- National Museum of Asian Art
- National Museum of African Art
- Smithsonian Castle
- Arts and Industries Building
- S. Dillon Ripley Center
Visitors are encouraged to visit the Smithsonian Institution website for updates.
All other Smithsonian museums are open and operating on their regular schedules, according to a press release.
