Washington Commanders fans are getting their first look at what it will look like sitting in the stands at the new stadium once it’s complete.
The team and design firm HKS released the first renderings of the new stadium’s seating bowl on Wednesday,
“Inspired by the iconic RFK Stadium, these renderings bridge past and present by showcasing the team’s focus on recreating the loud, intense, and intimate atmosphere that defined the franchise’s championship era through a continuous, unified bowl,” the team said in a news release.

Architects designed the new seating bowl in a way that will increase the capacity of the lower bowl and improve seating angles throughout the stadium in an effort to bring fans closer to the action at every level, the team said.
The new bowl is also designed to rise in one continous sweep from field level to the upper deck to ensure clean sightlines and a shared viewing experience for the fans. The team said there are no stacked premium levels and minimal overhangs to prevent blocking sightlines or absorbing crowd noise.
Designed to get loud
The Commanders said the unified seating bowl, seating angles and the roof design will work together to make this one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL by capturing crowd noise and pushing it back down toward the field.

“Every aspect of the design is intended to amplify the energy and intensity of the crowd, create an immersive and shared viewing experience, and bring fans closer to the action,” Commanders Team President Mark Clouse said in the release. “Through innovative technologhy and acoustics designed to maximize crowd energy, the stadium will deliver one of the loudest environments in sports while reflecting the character and pride of the District.”
A dedicated section known as the “wall” will be built for the team’s most passionate fans. It will include affordable seating to ensure loyal supporters “can help create the most imposing home-field advantage in the NFL.”

Video boards are another big part of the new design, with renderings showing large sideline boards and a halo that seamlessly connects them to the endzone boards.
