Gunfire hit an SUV and injured a passenger on Interstate 66 in the area of Vienna, Virginia, Tuesday night, police said.
A Toyota Rav4 was going eastbound on I-66 near the Nutley Street interchange about 8:14 p.m. when the people inside the SUV heard a loud bang and a passenger riding in the back was hurt, Virginia State Police said.
The passenger was taken to a hospital. Their injuries are not life-threatening, state police said.
Police said a gunshot hit the left rear window of the Rav4. The three others inside the SUV weren’t hurt.
Authorities haven’t given any further information about the shooting and it’s unclear if road rage was a factor.
