
A man is seriously hurt after he was struck by a vehicle on Route 355 in Gaithersburg early Thursday morning, according to police.
Montgomery County officer and fire officials responded to the intersection of North Frederick Avenue (Route 355) and Christopher Avenue to the report of a pedestrian being hit.
They found a man injured at the scene. He was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, according to police. The vehicle that hit him remained at the scene.
All southbound lanes of Route 355 were closed early Thursday morning between Watkins Mill Road and Christopher Avenue, according to officials.
Once crews cleared the roads, all lanes reopened after 7 a.m., according to the Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination
Police told drivers that they should seek alternative routes and to expect significant delays during the morning commute.
