Amazon will be dolling out additional payments and to more customers as part of its $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission.

In 2025, Amazon settled allegations brought by the FTC that it misled customers into enrolling in its Prime membership and then deliberately made it difficult to cancel the service.

Although the e-commerce giant did not admit to any wrongdoing, Amazon agreed to pay $1.5 billion to eligible customers and $1 billion in civil penalties. Payments started going out in September 2025, but Amazon only issued about $845 million to consumers, leaving $665 million left that the company needs to hand out.

The FTC announced Thursday that a revised order expands the number of customers eligible to receive payments and increases the maximum payment limit to from $51 to $200. That means customers who already received monetary compensation will get an additional $149.

Additionally, under the new order, all future payments will be distributed automatically, eliminating the requirement for customers to submit claims or additional documents to Amazon.

Here’s what you need to know:

Who is eligible to receive payment?

Eligible customers must meet these three requirements:

  • You are an Amazon Prime customer in the United States.
  • You signed up for an Amazon Prime subscription through a “challenged enrollment flow” (the universal Prime decision page, shipping selection page, single page checkout, or the Prime Video enrollment flow) or attempted to cancel your subscription through the online cancellation process, but were unable to do so between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025.
  • You did not use more than 20 Amazon Prime benefits (including Prime Music or Prime Video offered) in any 12-month period after signing up for Amazon Prime. Previously, payouts were capped to people who used 10 or fewer Prime benefits during a one-year period.

How much money am I getting?

The original order required Amazon to provide refunds of up to $51. Customers who already received that monetary compensation will get an additional $149. Those who were not eligible for payments under the old order, but are now under the expanded criteria will receive $200.

But, it doesn’t stop there. According to the terms of the amended order, if any funds remain in the $1.5 billion settlement pot after this second round of payments go out, the remaining funds will be distributed among all eligible consumers. That means more money may still come your way.

How and when do I get my payment?

Payments will be sent automatically to eligible customers starting Oct. 1, 2026, and will be made electronically via PayPal or Venmo, or a physical check mailed directly to the consumer, according to the FTC.

If funds remain in the settlement pot by February 2027, Amazon will send out a third round of supplemental payments by April 2027 and those will also be distributed automatically.
