Video shows a dangerous car chase through Sterling, Virginia, that ended with a pickup crashing into a townhome. Residents described the chaos early Thursday as terrifying.
A white pickup truck on video turns a corner with a passenger door hanging open. The truck approaches the end of a parking lot with a steep drop-off on the other side.
A man jumps from the door and takes off on foot as the pickup slides down the embankment and crashes into a townhouse.
A man can be seen running through the grass. An official chasing after him trips and falls, leaving a mark in the grass, then gets up and keeps chasing.
More law enforcement run past the camera. Then, shouting can be heard off-camera: “Hands up! Hands up!”
Neighbors said they believe the officials were ICE agents. News4 reached out to ICE asking for information about what happened and about the man who apparently was arrested. They did not immediately respond.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said they were not part of the operation. They said they and firefighters responded to a report from a resident about the truck crashing into her home. No one was hurt, they said according to initial information.
The woman whose house was hit said she was afraid.
A neighbor shared video with News4 as she walked around the scene in disbelief.
“I’m super scared,” she said.
The mother of three said dangerous encounters with law enforcement make people feel afraid in their own homes.
“It’s not safe. I know this is the job for this guy, but if you do that job, you need to do it safe,” she said.
