A man was found dead hanging outside Sunday morning in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
The man was Black and was found hanging from a tree, witnesses said. He was found just before 8 a.m. on D’Arcy Road, near Sansbury Road.
First responders pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the man died by suicide and said they did not find any evidence of foul play. The medical examiner will determine the man’s official cause of death.
The death and discovery has the community on edge. During a widely attended virtual call with the community Sunday, County Executive Ayesha Braveboy and Prince George’s County Police Chief George Nader addressed residents’ concerns. They said there was no harm to the wider community.
Prince George’s County Police also released a statement that said, in part, “We understand this incident is both disturbing and painful to residents — who may have driven by the scene — or learned about this incident throughout the day.”
Community members are being asked to call Prince George’s County police if they have any information about the case.
