Ford Motor Company is recalling 148,663 Mustangs due to a wiring connection issue that could cause the vehicles to lose drive power or disrupt other functions, increasing the risk of a crash.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a recall notice that the “engine compartment wiring harness ground connections” may break and lead to a loss of drive power or a loss of function in the windshield washing system, headlights, air conditioning or engine cooling fan.
The recall impacts certain 2024 to 2026 Ford Mustangs.
Letters notifying owners of the issue were expected to be mailed on Aug. 31. Additional letters will be mailed once a remedy is available, around March 2027, federal safety regulators said.
Drivers can bring their Mustang to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have their engine compartment wiring harness ground terminals replaced free of charge.
