A Delta flight from Los Angeles to Boston was forced to divert to Detroit after one of the pilots became ill mid-flight.

Flight 437 departed LAX at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday and was headed to Logan International Airport when it made the emergency landing at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport “following a crew illness,” Delta said in a statement to NBC News. The nature of the illness was not disclosed.

The Boeing 757, with 147 passengers onboard, landed safely in Detroit, Delta said.

In air traffic control audio capture by Live ATC, the flight’s captain can be heard saying he’s the ill crew member.

“This is the captain. I’m the one that’s ill,” the captain told the tower. “I’m gonna taxi the jet to the gate, and then I need to go to the hospital.”

The pilot disembarked and Delta said the flight was re-crewed before continuing on to Boston.
