Nearly 40,000 bottles of a popular brand of eye drops are being recalled over possible contamination concerns.
New York-based Prestige Consumer Healthcare is voluntarily recalling a single lot of Clear Eyes Maximum Itchy Eye Relief drops due to a “lack of assurance of sterility,” according to a notice from the Food and Drug Administration.
The recall affects 15mL bottles with an expiration date of Sept. 30, 2027, and lot code 2552A. The drops offer relief of dryness, burning, redness and other irritations, according to a product description.
The FDA classified the recall as a Class II, meaning the product may cause temporary or reversible health problems.
Customers are urged to stop using the product and return it to the point of purchase for a full refund.
