It’s going to cost viewers a little more to watch “Ted Lasso,” “Widow’s Bay” and other Apple TV originals.
Apple announced it is raising subscription prices for its streaming service starting Friday.
Monthly subscriptions are up $2, from $12.99 to $14.99. Annual subscriptions have a $20 jump, from $99 to $119.
Existing subscribers will be notified approximately one month before being charged the new prices, Apple said.
The company has now raised Apple TV prices four times in the last four years. The streaming service has tripled its monthly subscription cost since launching in 2019 as Apple TV+ with a $4.99 price tag.
Apple TV currently has more than 300 original TV shows and movies in its catalog, up from a handful when Apple TV+ began. The service also has live streaming partnerships with Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer and Formula 1.
On top of the Apple TV changes, Apple announced additional price increases for Apple One. The bundle for Apple TV, Apple Music, iCloud+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+ and Apple Fitness+ is rising from $19.95 to $21.95 per month.
Apple isn’t alone among streamers when it comes to price hikes. Peacock raised subscription costs earlier this month and Netflix announced similar changes in March. HBO Max, Disney+, Hulu, Paramount+ and YouTube Premium have also announced higher prices in the last two years.
