
A teenager was arrested in the fatal 2025 shooting of a 14-year-old girl in Washington, D.C., police announced Wednesday night.
That 14-year-old girl, identified by police as Clinton resident Zytina Mason-Brown, was found with a gunshot wound on May 21 of last year.
Police were called to the 1700 block of Benning Road NE for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found Mason-Brown unconscious and not breathing.
D.C. Fire and EMS pronounced her dead at the scene, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that her death was a homicide last August.
On Wednesday, a 17-year-old boy was arrested and charged with second degree murder while armed, D.C. police said.
They have not identified that 17-year-old boy, and did not share details of why he is a suspect or how they arrested him.
