{"id":67,"date":"2026-07-08T12:47:24","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T12:47:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/affairs360.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/08\/3-year-old-shot-killed-after-july-fourth-fireworks-remembered-1-year-later\/"},"modified":"2026-07-08T12:47:24","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T12:47:24","slug":"3-year-old-shot-killed-after-july-fourth-fireworks-remembered-1-year-later","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/affairs360.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/08\/3-year-old-shot-killed-after-july-fourth-fireworks-remembered-1-year-later\/","title":{"rendered":"3-year-old shot, killed after July Fourth fireworks remembered 1 year later"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/affairs360.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/3-year-old-shot-killed-after-july-fourth-fireworks-remembered-1-year-later.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Loved ones and friends joined together Tuesday to honor the life of 3-year-old Honesty Cheadle, who was shot and killed while she and her family were sitting in their car early July 5, 2025 after watching Fourth of July fireworks.<\/p>\n<p>Now, one year later, they are working to ensure she receives justice and her name is never forgotten.<\/p>\n<p>Not a day goes by without the Cheadle family remembering Honesty, who had an affinity for Bluey the cartoon, her dolls and spending time with her family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just joy and love and a brightness,\u201d said her aunt, Keisha Easton. \u201c[\u2026] And we continue to try and be that light that she shared with us and continue to share with each other.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One year since tragedy struck, the impact of Honesty\u2019s shining spirit was felt through her family\u2019s warm embrace, hugs and words.<\/p>\n<p>Last year after Honesty and her family finished watching a Fourth of July fireworks show and were headed home, a gunman opened fire on the family\u2019s car on 14th street in Southeast D.C. Honesty was shot, and she died a few days later.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators arrested and charged 24-year-old Charles Rucker with first degree murder.
